Hi all 4-8
- I hope everyone is well and stays healthy. I see more people walking and hiking than ever before. Dogs are really getting their exercise.
- I know everyone has more time on your hands now, please look for a picture of yourself while you were in the service and send it to me so I can include it on our Veteran club website. Browse
- As you know, the Veterans club meeting for April has been canceled. I spoke with Sam Nanez, Program Manager for the Veterans Home on the VA campus. He will come talk to our group at a future date. I have collected some used and new DVD players and DVDs to donate to the Veteran Home but need to wait and deliver them when conditions become safer to travel. If you have a DVD player with cables and remote that you want to donate, please hold it. I will let members know when I can deliver and collect your items then. My dining room is overflowing with clothing and electronics right now.
- Free audio books for Veterans with disabilities.
- Please pray for Veteran club member Lee Krumm, Retired Coast Guard Captain, who has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He has chosen not to have chemo or radiation treatments.
- In case you do not receive SCOV emails, this was sent by SCOV about how to order the trash cans from Republic, which will assume community wide pickup after July 1.

Transition to Republic for Trash Removal/Recycling Services. Residents currently using a contractor other than Republic for trash removal/recycling services are responsible for any charges associated with cancellation of services or picking up bins from that contractor. SCOV admin negotiated with Waste Management to reduced bin pickup fees to $35 (plus fees). Be aware that the transition in service does not occur until July, so we still have some time. If negotiations are unsuccessful, we regret the additional cost, only recently imposed by Waste Management, that will be incurred.
Side note - I removed my automatic payment information from the Waste Management website to hopefully avoid being charged for pick up of my old trash bins. I will stall/bluff/beg/delay to have them dismiss charges for bin pickup. If your banking/credit card information is on their website you will most likely see charges from them to pick up bins on your account.
As always, thank you for your service,
Mike
