Veterans Club SCOV
Minutes of Meeting, Jan 3, 2022
Meeting started at 1:00 PM with 39 members in attendance. Three new members were recognized for first time attendance. Bob Knight (Air Force), Dan Briggs (Air Force), and Dorsey Smith (Marine Corps).
The Dec 6 minutes were approved as stated.
Finance Report – Larry Webster
Bank balance $2006.37. Expecting a check for $8998.00 from the Legacy Brick fundraiser, which will raise our bank balance to $11,004.37. Designated SCOV clubs to receive donations from the Legacy Brick project in the coming week, with two clubs turning over their designated funds to the SCOV Veterans Club.
Presentation made by Treasurer Larry Webster on proposal by the committee studying worthy local veterans’ organizations. Motion made by Brian Goff, seconded by Ted Tindall to approve disbursal of $4250.00 to 8 selected Veteran organizations at this time. Motion passed unanimously. Issue to be revisited later in the year for the distribution of additional funds to worthy groups, not to exceed 80% of available balance in club account.
Current club membership is 263.
New Business
Club president Mike LaBarbera reported on the growth of the club since its inception in 2019, from an initial 11 members to the current 263.
Old Business
There are currently pictures of 66 members . President Mike LaBarbera reminded attendees to bring a shirt for embroidery showing your branch of service. Send a picture of yourself while in the military to add to the club gallery on our website.
New Business
Slate of officers for the coming year proposed: Mike LaBarbera/President, Ian Friedlander/VP, Larry Webster/Treasurer, Kate Cusumano/Secretary. Motion made Brian Goff, seconded Adolph Fejfar. Passed unanimously.

Unfinished Business
New orders are being accepted at the Welcome Center for the Legacy Walkway.
Guest speaker - John Helminiak, from The Tunison Foundation, a nonprofit organization that operates its WWII C-47 Placid Lassie to remind and educate people about WWII, showed a 20-minute documentary on the Berlin Airlift.
