Hi all 1-9
- As I mentioned at our last meeting, Pat Stone, our VP, is moving to Oregon. I am looking for someone who is willing to step up and work with me as his replacement as early as February. Please call me for information.
- Volunteers are needed for the upcoming 2020 Point-In-Time Count. On Wednesday, January 29th, 300+ volunteers help count the homeless in Tucson, including the number of homeless Veterans. There is a class on Monday, Jan 27th between 6-8 PM to review conduct of the survey questions to be asked. The link has more information and also the registration to be a volunteer. Include on the registration form and list the "Veterans Club Sun City Oro Valley" as the agency associated with our group and my name as the point of contact. Teams in groups of 4-8 go together and gather the information. Please let me know if you have registered so I can coordinate carpools and track the number of volunteers from our club. This is a National survey done across the country in January each year. Please consider to volunteer to help.
- If you need to contact Joe Shambo, (Veteran Service Officer) about a claim, his email is [email protected] or he can be reached at 520-370-0220.
If you want to contact Tom Shambo from the AZ Memorial Cemetery Foundation call him at 520-603-0563. Information about registering for burial or interment at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana is on our website.
- We are about 50% of members paid for 2020. Contact me if you can't make the meetings to arrange for payment pick-up.
- The American Legion promotion going until Jan 15, they will buy one wreath for every one that is donated to the Wreaths Across America Program. The form is pre-filled with the code for the Arizona State Veterans Cemetery in Marana if you still want to contribute.
- In the past I have rejected larger donation offers (up to $500) from our club members. Some members have suggested I accept donations from our club members if it is offered. I am re-considering my original decision and if you do want to donate to our club, I will accept the donation. I know there is some good we can do with the funds. If you want to remain anonymous, contact me. I know a way it can be done.
- I spoke with Aalt Brouwer, food & beverage director at the Views, and mentioned how our club donated US Flags for other SCOV buildings and offered to put one in the restaurant. He said it would be a great idea. I will again work on getting a donation from the SC Foundation.
- January is Cervical Cancer month. Check out this information from the VA.

Thank you for your service
