Veterans Club SCOV
Minutes of Meeting, March 7, 2022
Meeting started at 1 pm with 45 members in attendance and Pledge of Allegiance.
-Presentation of a $250 check was made to Hector Acosta from the “Pima Community College Veterans Outreach”.
-Presentation of a $500 check to John McLane for the Veterans Rescue Mission. Both Hector and Jon spoke a few minutes about their organizations and thanked the club for the donations.
The Feb 7, 2022 meeting minutes were approved as stated. Matt Tombre and Adolph Fejfar first and seconded the motion. All in favor: unanimous.
Finance Report: Larry Webster, Bank Balance: Beginning $11,842.00, last month’s dues collected was $155.00.
Several donation checks were distributed over the month and today: Leaving a balance today of $7,090.61
Current Membership is 278 with 82 members who have paid dues.
Unfinished Business
Tucson Vets Serving Vets will have their annual Stand Down next Wednesday and several club members are volunteering for 3 hours to help sort clothing and other supplies that will be handed out.
If you want to order a brick for Phase 2 of the Legacy Walkway forms are at the library or let Mike know and he will email you one. Bring order form and payment to Welcome Center.
If you haven’t emailed Mike an active-duty picture of yourself, please do so.
Club meetings will be suspended for June, July, Aug, Sept. But “Meet and Greets” will continue monthly throughout the summer at the Views.
New Business
March 29 is Vietnam Veterans Day. If you served in the military between Nov 1955 and May 1975 you are eligible to receive the 50th Commemorative Anniversary pin. Let Mike know and he will get you one.
“Meet and Greet” happy hour is March 11th, 3:30 at the Views.
Guest Speaker was Karen Kuciver from Tucson Women Warriors. She spoke about how program started and evolved to help homeless women veterans. This is a 501C charity at Wendy’s Boutique, a 2nd hand store that sells used clothing to help women veterans. Several questions and positive comments from the club members were entertained.
