Hi all 2-6
- If you have any gently used men's or women's clothes that have been sitting in your closet or not used for a while, donate them to the Veterans. There are 2 organizations that need clothing now. The "Comin' Home" temporary housing unit we supplied with hygiene products last month and the Veterans Hospital "Stuff The Backpack Drive". Hospital Drive ends mid March. Bring clothing items to my house at 2145 E Bighorn Mountain Dr and put them in the box by the front door. Some items in need are:
*Sweatshirts
*Gloves
*Sweatpants
*Shorts
*Hats
*Socks/Underwear (New)
*Backpacks or Drawstring Bags
*Fleece Blankets (New)
*Reusable Water Bottles
*Tshirts
- In case you didn't know the VA offers alternative medicine such as animal, outdoor, or agri-therapy, yoga, meditation and acupuncture.
- Ian Friedlander was nominated and unanimously voted as the new Vice President of our club. Pat Stone, current VP, is relocating back to Oregon.
- Pima Federal CU was unanimously approved to use for the Veterans Club checking account
- Little Caesars has reached out and will donate 12 pizzas Thursday, Feb 6, to the temporary Veterans unit. I am still waiting to confirm if this will be a quarterly donation. They cannot do a monthly pizza meal.
- I spoke to Mojo at Mojo Barbershop not far from the Veterans housing unit. He normally charges $25 per haircut but will do the Veterans from the temporary housing unit for $5. The Veterans need to schedule a haircut through the unit office manager. I'm not sure how many Veterans will utilize this offer, but our club will pay for the $5 haircuts.
- A member suggestion is we, as a club, volunteer to go to the temporary Veterans housing unit once a quarter and bring food to cook on their BBQ (or prepare a dish and sides before we leave, (ie; baked ziti or similar dish) and serve the Veterans a hot lunch or dinner. FEEDBACK PLEASE
As always, thank you for your service
Mike
