Veterans Club SCOV
Minutes of Meeting, November 1, 2021
President Mike LaBarbera started the meeting at 1:05 P.M. with 39 members in attendance. Three new members were recognized for first time attendance: Bob Goulding, Verne Luther, and Warren Kerzon.
Motion to accept the October meeting minutes was motioned by Vern Peters, 2nd by Larry Clark. Approved unanimously.
Finance report was given by Larry Webster. Bank Balance was $1561.37
Current Club Membership is 244 .
Mike reminded attendees to bring a shirt to have the Club Logo embroidered on, and to send a picture for the website, volunteers for the Veterans Cemetery on Nov 10 and Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov 11 at the Catalina Vista
Monday Dec. 6th Club meeting will be extended to 2 hours and will allow members to briefly (10 minutes) talk about their Military Service experiences.
The SCOV Veterans Club will be featured on the cover of the November 2022 Tipster. Looking to have 100 members in the picture.
Looking for volunteers to serve on the Veteran Club Board. President, V.P., Secretary, or Treasurer.
Legacy walkway pavers will be installed on Dec. 13th. 180 orders to date with Nov. 15th being the deadline for this installation of pavers.
3 Club members are reviewing and will recommend local Veterans Organizations to receive donations from the money received from the Legacy Walkway.
Guest speaker Colonel Jeremy Pfeifer, Commander WAATS, was ably assisted by Command Sergeant Major Lyle Bringhurst in presenting an overview of the operations at the Western Army Aviation Training Site in Pinal Air Park. He described some of the challenges faced by today’s Army which included everything from budgetary restrictions to foreign governments’ developing hypersonic weapons. Colonel Pfeifer offered to conduct a tour of the WAATS facility to Veteran Club members.
