Minutes of Meeting 7 November 2022
Meeting started at 1 pm with 33 members and 3 guests in attendance.
New members in attendance for the first time were Don Wheeler/Army, Dennis Alexander/Air Force, Dave Randall/Navy, Marge Randall/Navy, and Gary Olsen/Army.
The 3 October 2022 meeting minutes were approved as stated. Brian Goff and Fred Sheaffer first and seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Finance Report: Larry Webster
Current Membership is 321.
Bank Balance: Beginning balance $2,821.66, ending balance $2990.06.
Old Business
Heroes Wall. Join the other 82 photos on our website. Send Mike a photo when you were in the service with location and year the photo was taken.
If you served in the military between Nov 1955 and May 1975, you are eligible to receive the Vietnam commemorative pin. See Mike after the meeting.
Reminder was given to start the process of applying for VA benefits to see if you qualify for disability or VA care. It’s money you deserve.
Thank you notes for our monetary donation have been received from Pima Community College, Operation Barnabas and Healing AZ Veterans, new thank you note from Esperanza En Escalante.
“Meet and Greets” continue monthly at The Views at 3:30 PM on the first Wednesday of the month. The next one will be Wednesday, 7 December, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
New Business
Thursday, Nov 10th. Looking for volunteers to put flags on the grave sites at the Marana Veterans Cemetery. Meet at the Activity Center parking lot near bocce courts ready to leave at 7:10. Breakfast at the Feed lot afterwards.
Last December we had an Open Mic meeting where members related a story from their time in the service. Next month’s meeting is Sunday, Dec 4th at 11AM at the CV. Pot luck “Open Mic” with Marana & Sunflower Veteran Clubs at the Catalina Vista. Please let me know if you want to relate a story.
