3/18/22
Hi all
Our next meeting is Monday, April 4th, 1PM Catalina Vista (14044 N Del Webb Blvd.). Guest speaker is Joe Shambo, Veteran Service Officer from the Tucson VFW. He will speak about filing a claim with the VA for medical and monetary compensation. He will be available to talk to after the meeting. Apply for what you deserve. You will not be depriving a homeless or needy Veteran. The VA has the means to compensate you for your service-connected disability.
March 7th meeting minutes
Photos of club members attending the opening on March 9th of the NW Pima Community College Veterans Center. We donated $250 to this organization.
Photos of members who volunteered to sort, separate and fold clothing for the Tucson "Stand Down" run by Tucson Veteran Serving Veterans on March 15th. We donated $500 to this organization.
March 29th is Vietnam Veterans Day and I want to give all who served there a heartfelt, "Welcome Home". We were the forgotten soldiers who didn't get that pat on the back or hero's welcome when we returned from combat. Be proud of your service, show the country we stand up for what we did. Wear that "Army" baseball cap or that "Veteran" service pin and let others know we are not ashamed of our military service.
Starting on Wednesday, April 6th, "Meet & Greet" happy hours will be held the first Wednesday of the month between 3:30 to 4:30. With entertainment starting at 4pm instead of 5 on Fridays, it's too loud at the Views, and some members having plans on Fridays. Hope you will join us.
Review Club Calendar of Events
We have completed the donations of $4250 to 8 different Veteran organizations from money raised selling the Legacy Bricks. We will look at another round of donations in a couple of months. If you know of a local Veteran organization you would like us to help with a donation, let me know. I am looking for additional volunteers to join the committee, with limited commitment, and vet these organizations for their needs and ensure the money will not be used to pay the CEOs or presidents of those organizations. Please let me know if you are willing to help.
US Marines land at Da Nang Mar 1965
West Point established Mar 1802
My Lai massacre Mar 1968
USS Monitor battles CSS Virginia Mar 1862
Army captain charged with My Lai war crimes Mar 1970
As always, thank you for your service.
Mike
