Hi all, 5-28
- On this Memorial Day, please remember a family member or friend, and so many others, who gave their all to protect and preserve our great country.
- Do you know the history of Memorial Day. Sent to me by a fellow member.
- Club members Bill Livingston, Brian Goff, Keith Lambert and myself delivered DVD players, VCR players, Receivers, headphones, speakers, movies, music and more, donated by our wonderful SCOV community, to the Veterans Home. Check pictures from Veterans Club website. Scroll to bottom.
- This Just a Common Soldier link should have been in last weeks email.
- Create an online memorial for a loved on the Veterans Legacy Memorial website
- Not sure if I sent this before. Application for Burial in a VA National Cemetery and or Memorial Products. I just added it to our website.
- You may have heard this "LA Speed Check" story before by an SR-71 pilot, always funny
- The BOD is opening the facilities and slowly, phasing in different buildings, pools and other activities gradually.
*I have reserved the Kiva patio (behind the Activities Center near the bocce courts) for Monday, June 1st at 4PM. The patio is large and half shaded by 4PM and the shaded area gets larger as it gets later in the day. At present the CDC does not recommend a gathering of 10 or more people that serve a higher-risk population. Since I never know the number of Veterans who will be attending each meeting until that day, and the snow birds are migrating north, attendance is discretionary. If you plan to attend the meeting please:
1. Bring a face mask with you. Your discretion to wear it.
2. If you prefer to bring your personal sanitizer (lysol spray, wipes or hand), to clean chairs or tables please do so.
3. Bring a hydration beverage of your choice. We will combine the business and happy hour social meeting into one. Views Restaurant balcony is smaller and has limited seating so no "Meet & Greet" on June 5th.
4. If you are feeling sick or ill in any way, please do not attend
5. If you think you have been exposed to someone who has the COVID-19 virus, please do not attend
6. Try to arrive before 4PM. We will have to arrange our own seating in the shade since a monitor may not be on site.
7. If you have a club embroidered shirt please wear it, if you want a shirt embroidered bring one branch colored
- If anyone has a portable microphone or karaoke machine to use as a microphone, I would like to borrow it for our meeting next Monday. Please let me know.
- Since everyone has had so much time on their hands at home these past 2 months, you should have found that photo by now of yourself while you were in the service. Please send me your photo via text 812-431-7427 (take a picture with your phone and attach to text) or attached to an email, so I can add it to our website of photos of the other 26 members.
- Let me know if you want to participate in the Saturday, July 4th, SCOV parade by decorating your vehicle. Please respond to this email with the type of vehicle you will be driving: Convertible, Motorcycle or Golf Carts only. We will be traveling 15-20 mph. If your cart can't keep up with multiple people on board, please do not slow down the parade. I already have a couple names on the parade email list. I will be compiling a July 4th parade email list, separate from the Veterans Club email list, with detailed instructions.
As always, thank you for your service
Mike
